My mom is one of the Beckley Pachuta's. The name is very unusual -- the only other person we had found with the last name (before the Internet) was a little old man who said he was from Russia. My aunt did a family history that traced us back to the village in Slovakia, but I can't remember the name. She did say that one of my Great-Grandma's was a local healer, who had taught herself English and that she was a skilled needleworker. I think that Mary is one of my somewhat distant cousins. Uncle Mike still lives on the homeplace in Beckley and one of my other uncles designed the Exhibition Mine in Beckley. We had a number of coal miners in the family.
